What is Medical Microdermabrasion Treatment?

A medical microdermabrasion treatment safely exfoliates dead skin cells for smoother, healthier, less blotchy-looking skin. It can be performed on the lightest to darkest skin tones, and treatment areas include the face, neck, and chest. Treatments on the arms, back, and other areas can be scheduled as well. The procedure is non-surgical and involves virtually no discomfort or downtime. Dermacare owns four, top of the line, microdermabrasion machines called the DiamondTome.  The DiamondTome is a crystal-free and is equipped with a diamond-encrusted tipped wand and vacuum system that safely and effectively removes dead skin cells plus dirt and debris from the pores.

  • Dull or dry skin
  • Congested pores
  • Leathery skin texture

How long does the treatment take?

A single procedure takes between 20 to 30 minutes and should be repeated at intervals of two to four weeks depending on skin type and condition. Treatments begin with a thorough cleansing of the face while hot stones are used to loosen up tense shoulder and upper back muscles. Following the microdermabrasion treatment, the aesthetician will apply a calming masque to the skin.

Is it safe?

Yes. Medical microdermabrasion treatment is a safe, non-surgical approach to skin rejuvenation that has been performed for years in Europe and has gained popularity in the United States in the last decade.

Is it painful?

Most patients report mild to no discomfort during the procedure and have even found it to be pleasurable. The settings are adjustable, so the treatment is performed at a level comfortable for the patient. After the procedure, there is slight blushing of the skin, which normally disappears within one to two hours.

How soon are results seen?

Many patients experience softer, smoother, glowing skin immediately after the first treatment. The recommended treatment plan can range from 2 to 12 treatments, depending on the condition and type of your skin and the results desired.

Can a Medical Microdermabrasion treatment be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Medical microdermabrasion treatment is the perfect complement to other procedures including Laser Genesis, FotoFacial™, BOTOX® Cosmetic, chemical peels, etc.
