What is Vollure XC?
Vollure XC is injected into the areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as “parentheses” lines or “laugh lines” occur. Technically, these folds are referred to as nasolabial folds. Deep lines that extend from the corners of the mouth, known as oral commissures, down to the chin area are known as “marionette lines” and can be effectively treated with the Juvederm filler Vollure XC. Several factors can contribute to the formation of these lines and folds. A loss of volume in the cheeks, the effects of gravity, and the aging process all play a role in creating unwanted laugh lines and marionette lines.
How does Vollure XC work?
As we age, wrinkles start to develop, and folds become more visible. Vollure XC, a cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, is injected under the skin to temporarily add volume below the facial wrinkles and folds for a smoother appearance to the face. The amount of “softening” or “correction” that can be achieved is dependent on the severity of the wrinkles and folds as well as the amount of Vollure XC filler used during the treatment. Lidocaine already formulated into the gel improves the comfort of the injection by reducing sensitivity to pain.
The patient pictured below wanted to just soften the appearance of a marionette line on the right side of her face. A successful outcome was achieved; however, an additional syringe of filler would have been necessary in order to fill the entire oral commissure area for full correction.
How long does Vollure XC last?
Clinical studies demonstrate Vollure XC lasts up to 18 months with optimal treatment. This is one of the longest-lasting fillers in the Juvederm collection, and our patients have been very happy with their results.
What are the potential side effects of Vollure XC?
The most common side effects included firmness, swelling, tenderness to touch, lumps/bumps, redness, pain, bruising, itching, and discoloration at the injection site. These side effects were usually mild or moderate in nature (causing little to some discomfort and impact on daily activities) and lasted 14 days or less.
