What is electrology?
Electrology is the science of permanent hair removal. The process known as electrolysis is one in which a very fine needle is inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle alongside the hair shaft. A very small amount of electricity is gently applied to the base of the hair follicle. This process destroys the hair growth cells. Therefore, the regenerative ability of the hair follicle is permanently eliminated.
Why should I choose electrolysis instead of laser hair removal?
Both laser hair removal and electrolysis are safe for all skin types and are both very popular treatments for hair removal. Laser hair removal is effective on reducing unwanted brown and black hair while electrolysis is effective on red, gray, and blonde hair as well as brown and black hair.* The treatment time for a laser hair removal session is much shorter than an electrolysis session and the treatments are spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart verses electrolysis sessions which are spaced 7 to 10 days apart.
Fact: There is no such thing as "PERMANENT Laser Hair Removal" no matter what you hear or see advertised. While laser hair removal provides a reduction of hair growth up to 90 percent, electrolysis is the only true permanent hair removal method recognized by the FDA. Dermacare offers Free Touch-ups for Life on our laser hair removal packages at no additional cost to ensure our clients' long-term satisfaction with their laser hair removal treatments.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments necessary varies with each client but the average is between 6 to 8 treatments. Factors such as hair growth cycles, the quantity and structure of the unwanted hair, previous use of temporary hair removal methods, heredity, hormones, certain medications, and stress influence the treatment program for each individual. It is important to follow the recommended treatment plan to achieve optimum results. Dermacare offers treatments sold as individual sessions or as a package of 4 treatments at a discounted rate.
What does electrolysis feel like?
Electrolysis treatments can be a little uncomfortable, but individual tolerances vary. The discomfort that occurs during the treatment is very quick, and then it's over. Even the most sensitive person should be able to tolerate an electrolysis treatment. Dermacare's top-quality electrology equipment was purchased only two years ago so you can rest assure your treatment will be performed with the highest level of effectiveness and comfort.
