The FOCUS Laser

Dermacare is proud to offer the FOCUS Laser – a new, FDA-cleared laser for the treatment of wrinkles, acne scars, and the removal of benign pigmented lesions.

The FOCUS Laser treats stubborn melasma, age spots, and acne scars using ultra-short pulses of energy in picoseconds creating a photomechanical impact known as PressureWave™. This non-invasive laser treatment targets all three layers of photo-damaged tissue, epidermal pigment, mid-dermal wrinkles, and deep-dermal laxity to improve skin clarity and texture. There is little to no physical downtime from this procedure.

Why should I choose electrolysis instead of laser hair removal?

Why should I choose electrolysis instead of laser hair removal?

Why should I choose electrolysis instead of laser hair removal?

Both laser hair removal and electrolysis are safe for all skin types and are both very popular treatments for hair removal. Laser hair removal is effective on reducing unwanted brown and black hair while electrolysis is effective on red, gray, and blonde hair as well as brown and black hair. The treatment time for a laser hair removal session is much shorter than an electrolysis session and the treatments are spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart verses electrolysis sessions which are spaced 7 to 10 days apart.

Fact: There is no such thing as "PERMANENT Laser Hair Removal" no matter what you hear or see advertised. While laser hair removal provides a reduction of hair growth up to 90 percent, electrolysis is the only true permanent hair removal method recognized by the FDA. Dermacare offers Free Touch-ups for Life on our laser hair removal packages at no additional cost to ensure our clients' long-term satisfaction with their laser hair removal treatments.

Contouring Tips From Tracy

My favorite product to compliment Voluma is a jane irdale bronzer. It gives a really nice glow to the face when applied like the number three, starting on the forehead, going to the cheeks, and then pulling it around to the chin. This tip enhances the effect of the cheek filler. The bronzer usually lasts about six months and my absolute favorite shade is moonglow!

What does the treatment feel like?

Optimizing patient comfort and safety is extremely important, this is why Dermacare has invested in the most advanced lasers and innovative cooling air systems available. During the treatment the actual laser hand piece cools and soothes the skin, plus an additional cooling air system is available to the patient for even greater comfort. Some patients have described the sensation during treatment as mild pinching or stinging as a small pulse of light from the laser is delivered. No topical anesthesia or pain medication is typically required.

What should I expect after the treatment?

The patient may experience mild redness or swelling immediately following treatment. Most of the hair targeted by the laser will shed 7 to 10 days post treatment. The patient should not wax or tweeze between treatments, but shaving is allowed.

Who can be treated?

Dermacare's lasers are designed to treat all skin types, from light to dark, for both men and woman. To determine if you are a candidate for laser hair removal treatments you will need to schedule a complimentary consultation with Dermacare of Gainesville to review individual dermatological factors such as skin type, hair color, hair thickness, location of the hair, and medical history.

How many treatments are necessary?

Most patients will need an average of 5-7 treatments. However, the amount of treatments necessary in order to achieve optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors: hair growth cycle, hormones, medications, etc. Not all the hairs are growing at the same time as they go through three phases: growth, regression, and resting. Laser hair removal treatment plans are designed to disable the hairs that are mainly in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since the individual hairs enter the active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary.
